There were an estimated 14.1 million new cases of cancer globally in 2012, and the number of people receiving a cancer diagnosis is expected to continue to increase, with new cases predicted to rise to nearly 24 million by 2035 (1). 8.8 million people worldwide died from cancer in 2015. That is nearly 1 in 6 of all global deaths and more than HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined. Out of this, 4 million people die prematurely (aged 30 to 69 years).
